Tomorrow marks the 1st of December which means… it’s officially Christmas! Eeeek! The shops are full of glitter and sequins designed to dazzle you into buying THE Christmas party dress you’ve been dreaming about and finding the perfect one can be a stressful time… so here’s my guide on dressing for the festive party season, incorporating just the right amount of sparkle without looking like an escaped extra from a Ke$ha video!
Let’s talk dresses. First up, the simple style. The LBD is an absolute classic and I am a huge fan of understated elegance. Team something like this super sexy bardot dress with a simple and chic heel. These heels are perfect for the occasion, in a soft suedette material and featuring a scalloped edge around the heel. Finally, add a glittery clutch bag, a red lipstick and some heavy jewellery into the mix to lift your all black outfit into something special. The overall effect is a simple silhouette with just a hint of party animal 😉 For an even bolder vibe, go for a coloured heel and matching bag.
Next up is the sassier glittered LBD. This dress is an absolute gem because whilst it has the ‘safe option’ tag of still being a classic black party dress, it has a gorgeous metallic twist in the fabric. High neck dresses are also a huge hit right now and creates the perfect opportunity to flaunt your legs (and shoes of course!). I team this little number with a heeled open toe sandal like these. I just love the ornate detailing over the top of the foot. Finally I grab a gold clutch bag, my favourite plum shade lippy and head out for the night!
Remember girls, ’tis the season to sparkle so don’t be afraid to go all out glamour and shimmer your way through the party period. I always stick to the golden rule of one glittery item per outfit, that way you can’t go far wrong!
