2014 was a big one! Join me as I talk through a few of my favourite outfits, trends, and a few style resolutions for next year…
It’s the end of the year, and as usual, a time when you can’t help but reflect on all the exercise you didn’t do, and all of that DIY that didn’t quite get finished. For somebody that documents her outfits week by week, I also can’t help but also take a closer look at what I wore throughout the year, and that comes with making a few style resolutions for the coming months, too.
Winter
Warm coats and beanies have ruled my wardrobe for the past few months. On my feet in November and December were lots of ankle boots and chelsea boots – including these shiny Deichmann beauts that look perfect with a pair of skinny jeans.
Of course, a few fancy dresses made their way in thanks to Christmas parties. To match that little red dress and my big tulle skirt, I opted for matching colours and metallics – recreate the look for your NYE party in these lace courts or these silver pointed heels.
Autumn
Trench coats, jumpers and big hats were the flavour of Autumn. Ever the optimist, I made the most of the warmer weather to keep my legs out and showcase a few of my favourite pairs of brogues and loafers.
Wellies made an appearance for the first chilly walk of the season, accompanied by wooly accessories.
My highlight has to have been the all-black ensemble worn to Paris Fashion Week, accompanied by sky-high platforms. Which is your favourite look?
Summer
Ahh. summer dressing is the best, isn’t it? Being able to throw on a simple dress with a pair of sandals and leave the house without a worry is one of my favourite things about the season. This summer I embraced bright and bold prints, pastels, and even my first pair of printed flares.
My favourite simple sandals hardly left my feet – I loved them so much I had them in three colours! I even went barefoot a few times, as shown in the picture at the bottom, snapped at Secret Garden Party festival.
Spring
Duster coats and leather jackets over dresses was my staple Spring look. This was the month that my bare legs made a comeback. and I showed off my pins in closed-toe sandals and loafers, for both girly and preppy looks.
My favourite look has to be the pink coat and white dress combo – what do you think?
Style Resolutions
I don’t like making promises that I won’t keep, but for 2015 I know I’d like to make a few tweaks in my wardrobe. Firstly, a strict one-in-one-out policy needs to be brought into effect before I drown in bags and shoes! Selling off older, pre-loved pieces is essential to keep your ‘drobe looking fresh.
Secondly, I need to have more fun with dressing and take more risks! It’s usually the outfits I’m initially not so sure about that turn out to be hits, which means doing something different is totally worth it!
What will you be switching up in 2015?
