Hands up if you’re thinking of adding some more kicks to your wardrobe this Spring? I can’t be the only one who’s become slightly trainer obsessed over the past few years. As well as your standard gym pairs, I’ve got knitted ones, retro ones, neon ones, the list goes on. I even hear that the light-up kind are making a comeback (the 90s have a lot to answer for). When it comes to styling them, anything goes. My black pair is my equivalent of ballet flats and can be worn with those Scandi-style suits or printed trousers. I either use colour in order to brighten up a muted look or clash with tones I’m already wearing. It’s better to go bold or go home I say!
Look One – I prefer to explore London by foot, so when it’s sunny enough to bare my legs, these are my first port of call. This lilac knitted pair would also do the trick.
Look Two – Black doesn’t necessarily need to be boring. I’m wearing a printed jumpsuit with a slightly high-tech panelled pair. Never underestimate the power of a jazzy sock, too, these would be ideal.
Look Three – Remember the clash I was talking about? I love to mix floral items of clothing together so why not get your footwear involved too. I used black and white trousers as a foundation, then layered on a slightly twee pattern.
I hope I’ve encouraged you to be braver with your trainer choices! If in doubt, start off with jeans and gradually try them out with jumpsuits, trousers and dresses. These have also caught my eye, go forth and shop!
