It’s all about denim this season. That may seem like stating the obvious, as dungarees, co-ords, skirts and dresses have been around in this fabric for aeons (I even have the collection to prove it). There seems to be even more excitement for SS15 though, thanks to a certain Alexa Chung x AG collaboration and numerous creative incarnations on the High Street. The thing I love about this fabric, is that it bridges smart and casual. You can pair an A-line denim dress with leopard print heels or plimsoles depending on how you’re feeling and it still works. I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite looks to offer some ideal SS15 inspiration!
A few years ago I never would have imagined myself wanting a denim coat, but lo and behold I had to buy one this season. It’s so handy to have a casual number to throw on whenever the weather looks a bit dull, plus the frayed edges make everything a little bit more directional. I went for some cut-out chunky heels as my shoe of choice but this would look equally as good with some printed trousers and jazzy trainers.
Dungarees are another item that seemed pretty scary due to some childhood disasters, but now I’ve realised they can be a great layering piece. I’m fond of wearing mine with polo-necks when it’s chilly or a classic Breton and wooden heel combo when Summer comes around. Try these for a similar, retro-inspired look!
Ahh, the ubiquitous denim cut-offs. After buying a few dangerously skimpy styles in the past, I now stick to a pair that doesn’t leave me feeling too over-exposed when out and about. These are great to wear with a slightly voluminous, boho top to balance everything out. I added some metallic sandals and bold sunglasses for a bit of an eclectic twist.
Have you bought any new denim bits this season?
